About the Role
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Building Designer / Draftsperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will translate client needs and site conditions into functional, code-compliant, and aesthetically compelling building designs, working closely with architects, engineers, and clients throughout the design and permitting process.
Key Responsibilities
Develop schematic designs, design development drawings, and construction documents for residential and/or commercial projects.
Prepare accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, and detail drawings using Autodesk Revit software. Conduct site visits and analyses to inform design decisions, including zoning, setbacks, and site constraints.
Ensure designs comply with local building codes, zoning ordinances, and accessibility requirements.
Collaborate with, structural engineers, Geotech engineers, civil engineers etc… and contractors to resolve technical design issues.
Prepare and submit permit application drawings and respond to plan check comments.
Create 3D models and renderings to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders.
Research and select appropriate materials, finishes, and building systems.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year Architectural Design and Drafting course, Drafting Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in architectural design, drafting, or building design is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, design software.
- Solid understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials.
- Strong drafting, visualization, and technical drawing skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills. - Experience in construction is a great asset.
- Able to type minimum 40 wpm.
- Familiarity with Lumion rendering software.
- Knowledge of structural and MEP coordination.
